Can anyone think of model organism genera starting with I,J or Q?
I'm afraid the Ichthyosaurs can't help us here. I'm looking for organisms that are often bred in laboratories for purposes of studying widely occurring biological phenomena. Ichthyosaurs are unfortunately not available for even field study.
Blog of science isn't one of those science blogs about cool scientific results. It's about the experience of being a scientist doing science. It's about science the process, not science the outcome, or science the list of facts.

Yersinia (formerly Pasteurella) pestis, the plague bacterium. GML
Klebsiella (if you want bacterial genera)...from DS.
Great! Now I just need I, J and Q and I can start working on my kids' book.
Does Ichthyosaurus (Ichthyosauria) work for I?
